Freight Transport in Europe

Road freight transport is the backbone of the European economy and essential to the integrated European logistics and transport system. Road transport is by far the most important mode of freight transport, and delivering goods across Europe in a fast, efficient, flexible and cost-effective way. Road transport is also set to increase over the coming decades: a conservative estimate projects a 30% increase in transport activity in the next 20 years1.

However, it is also a major source of emissions. Substantial progress has been made in reducing emissions but more solutions are needed to meet emissions reduction goals. According to a European Commission’s Impact Assessment2, the majority of heavy goods vehicles in 2030 will be diesel-powered. Neste MY Renewable Diesel can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90%* over the life cycle of the fuel compared to fossil diesel, today.
